Who Am I?

Hi, I’m Rebecca (she/hers), a licensed master social worker passionate about supporting children, teens, and adults as they navigate life’s challenges. I use a mix of Play Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), emotional regulation techniques, mindfulness, and somatic/body-based therapies to help clients build resilience, process emotions, and develop meaningful coping skills.

Before becoming a social worker, I served as a cryptologist in the Navy, where I learned the importance of resilience and managing stress under pressure. This experience fuels my compassionate, open-minded approach to therapy. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where clients of all ages can feel seen, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes.

I love working with:

  • Children who are navigating big feelings, behavioral challenges, or developmental concerns and need a safe space to process through play.

  • Teens managing peer relationships, academic stress, identity exploration, or emotional struggles like anxiety and depression.

  • Adults and teens seeking tools to regulate emotions, build healthier relationships, and develop mindfulness practices.

  • Families looking to strengthen communication and navigate changes or challenges together.

  • Clients of all ages dealing with trauma, grief, or life transitions and seeking support for healing and growth.

Some of my favorite approaches include:

For children, I use Child-Centered Play Therapy to create a warm and engaging environment where they can process emotions and build confidence through play. Sessions may include tools like kinetic sand, art, puppets, and storytelling to help children express themselves in ways that feel natural to them.

For teens and adults, I draw from evidence-based practices like DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while incorporating mindfulness and somatic techniques. Together, we’ll focus on building emotional regulation skills, exploring patterns of thought and behavior, and finding practical ways to address life’s challenges.

What it’s like in a session with me:

Each session is tailored to the client’s needs and begins with a calming activity, such as deep breathing or grounding exercises, to create a sense of safety and focus. For children, we may dive into play-based activities that allow them to process their emotions in a fun, low-pressure way. Teens and adults can expect a collaborative approach, where we work together to explore challenges, build skills, and uncover strengths.

More about me:

When I’m not in sessions I love spending time with my family and friends, I enjoy traveling, reading, and playing sports. I have a healthy love for coffee and tea and enjoy making (and drinking) cafe de olla at home during the winter. A dream I have is to skydive above the grand canyon and to climb Mt Fuji again before I die.
